Dr Kingsley Udeh, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, says the ministry will ensure the commercialisation of Projects Development Institute (PRODA) products.
Udeh said this on Friday during his working visit to the institute in Enugu.
The minister said that commercialisation of the technology ecosystem was part of his mandate inline with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
He said the mandate of the ministry was to translate Nigeria’s economic growth from micro to macro level using the concept of “energise commercialisation.”
“I will do everything within my power to ensure the commercialisation of PRODA products.
“We cannot do it alone; we have to collaborate with the private sector, both the formal and informal sector; I will lead the way,” Udeh said.
He commended the Director General, Dr Peter Ogbobe and management of PRODA, for their research efforts, urging them to look forward to the ministry’s continued support.
Speaking, Ogbobe, commended the minister for his concern and attention to matters affecting the institute since he asummed office.
He said the institute was strategically positioned to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s industrialization agenda.
He called for sustained support in the areas of funding, modernisation of infrastructure, manpower development, commercialisation of research outputs, and the passage of the new PRODA Establishment Bill.
“With stronger support, improved funding, staffing, stronger collaboration, modernisation of facilities, and expansion of commercialisation activities, the institute is well positioned to accelerate technology -driven development of the country.
“We sincerely appreciate your leadership, vision and continued support to science, technology, and innovation sector,” he said. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
