Some Nigerians are receiving network pop-up messages inviting them to accept ₦50,000 under the Federal Government’s National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI).
A screenshot shows a message saying the recipient was selected for support. It asks the user to press 1 to accept.
The pop-up appears to be a USSD notification. The screenshot alone cannot confirm that money has been credited.
NERSI says selected beneficiaries receive messages through approved providers, including MoMo PSB, ALAT by Wema Bank and NairaGram. The support is free. Never share your PIN or one-time password (OTP), or pay anyone to release funds.
How to accept
Follow the genuine MoMo PSB notification, and press 1 to accept the federal cash transfer. If you accidentally dismiss it, dial *671*0# and follow the menu. Verify uncertain messages through the official NERSI helpline: 0700-022-2222.
