A grou, Tinubu Media Force, has commended the Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, on his handling of ongoing federal infrastructure projects across the country.
The group’s National Coordinator, Mr Gbenga Abiola, said in a statement on Tuesday in Lagos, described Umahi’s supervisory prowess as unmatched.
Abiola said Umahi’s leadership style aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda of efficiency, accountability, and national renewal.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Umahi has been closely monitoring federal projects nationwide.
Over the past few days, the minister and his team have inspected the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Lagos-Badagry Highway, Sokoto-Badagry Highway, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.
Other projects inspected also included the Third Mainland Bridge, the Seventh Axial Road behind the Dangote Refinery, linking the Lekki Deep Sea Port corridor to Sagamu, Ogun among others.Abiola said the minister’s hands-on presence had shifted governance from office routines to direct project execution on major federal road corridors.
“President Tinubu set a clear vision for infrastructure delivery, and Umahi has translated that confidence into tireless, on-site supervision across the country.
“Umahi does not supervise from Abuja. He is physically present on project sites, driving contractors to meet timelines and deliver world-class quality,” Abiola said.
He cited the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as a key example of Umahi’s direct oversight and strict enforcement of construction standards.
“In Akwa Ibom and Cross River, he inspected multiple sections and directed round-the-clock work to ensure quality and speed,” Abiola said.
Abiola also referenced the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway as another corridor benefiting from Umahi’s active supervision.
According to Abiola, Umahi’s leadership has also improved security and safety on critical national infrastructure.
Abiola said: “He (Umahi) insisted on durable concrete pavement technology and strict adherence to timelines to guarantee long-term value.
“On the Third Mainland Bridge, he personally supervised the installation of CCTV cameras to provide real-time monitoring and protect millions of daily commuters.”
He added that structural rehabilitation works were also carried out on the bridge under the minister’s direct supervision.
“The deck, substructures, and support systems were restored to meet long-term durability standards,” Abiola said.
Abiola said several other highways were benefiting from Umahi’s unmatched oversight across the federation.
“These include the Ore-Ondo-Akure Road and the Sokoto-Zamfara-Katsina-Kaduna corridor,” he said.
He also cited the Zaria-Hunkuyi route, the Kano Northern Bypass, and key sections of the East-West Road.
“In Lagos, Umahi is monitoring the Ikorodu-Itoki Road, with night-time excavation to reduce traffic disruption while maintaining strict engineering standards,” he added.
Abiola said even urban bridges were not left out of the minister’s supervisory focus.
“The Iddo Bridge is receiving close attention to ensure rapid progress and full restoration of this vital transport link,” he said.
According to him, Umahi has also introduced a systemic supervision framework within the Ministry of Works.
“He assigned directors and engineering teams to specific projects with clear accountability for reporting and quality checks,” Abiola said.
He said the approach had created a culture of speed, discipline, and transparency in federal infrastructure delivery.
“Projects are not just monitored; they are actively driven to completion with precision and responsibility,” the coordinator said.
He said the results of Umahi’s leadership were already visible across the country.
“Roads once stalled are now advancing simultaneously, and contractors are performing to higher standards.
“Where leadership is present and supervision is firm, results naturally follow,” Abiola said.
He said Nigerians were now witnessing a new era in infrastructure delivery.
“It is a transformation that moves beyond paper plans to visible, lasting impact on roads and bridges nationwide,” Abiola said. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
