Father, son arrested over impersonation at FCTA promotion examination

A 33-year-old man, Monsuru Musa, has been arrested for allegedly writing a promotion examination on behalf of his father, a staff member of the FCT Fire Service.

Monsuru was caught on the third day of the promotion examination being conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), the venue of the exercise.

Security operatives deployed at the instance of the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, apprehended him during the examination.

Upon interrogation, Monsuru claimed that his father was ill and present within the NOUN premises and had directed him to sit for the examination on his behalf.

When asked about his father’s age, Monsuru said he was between 67 and 68 years old. However, his father, Musa Mohammed, claimed he would turn 60 by February 2027.

Further interrogation revealed that Musa Mohammed said he completed secondary school in 1982 and primary school in 1977.

Both father and son have been handed over to the police for further investigation after making statements to operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
