The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the launch of Operation Go Cashless, a new contactless payment system that will take effect from September 29, 2025, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The initiative, introduced in partnership with Paystack, will phase out cash transactions at FAAN’s revenue points, including Access Gates, Car Parks, VIP and Protocol Lounges.
“Travelers and airport users can now enjoy fast and seamless services by using a secure contactless payment option,” FAAN management said in a statement. “This initiative responds to the growing demand for safe, modern, and transparent payment systems while ensuring Nigeria’s airports remain aligned with global digital trends.”
According to FAAN, the new system will enhance efficiency, improve revenue assurance, and provide a better customer experience for passengers.
To ease the transition, the agency has deployed trained brand ambassadors at access gates and around terminals to assist travelers. “Passengers can obtain a FAAN Go Cashless Card at airport access gates in Lagos and Abuja. After collection, users are encouraged to activate and fund their cards immediately by visiting www.gocashless.faan.gov.ng,” the statement explained.
FAAN added that the policy would be expanded to other airports nationwide in phases.
The authority urged travelers with inquiries to reach its support line at 0700-CBS-FAAN (0700-227-3226) or email [email protected].
