Eyal Zamir Says Israel Just Entered the Deadliest Phase Against Iran

According to report by the Times of Israel on Thursday March 5, 2026, Israel has entered what it describes as the most critical and intense stage of its military campaign against Iran, according to Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Zamir outlined the transition from the campaign’s initial phase to a more aggressive and sustained offensive.

The first stage of the operation involved a surprise opening strike designed to establish Israeli dominance and limit Iran’s immediate response capabilities. During this period, Israeli forces successfully gained complete air superiority over the operational theater. They also targeted and significantly degraded Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities, reducing the potential for large-scale retaliatory attacks. According to Zamir, these early achievements were essential in preparing the ground for the next, more destructive phase of the campaign.

With initial objectives achieved, the IDF is now concentrating on intensifying damage to the core structures of the Iranian regime. Zamir explained that the focus will include dismantling military infrastructure, disrupting operational networks, and targeting key strategic facilities that underpin Iran’s armed forces. This phase is designed to weaken the leadership’s control, erode Iran’s military strength over the long term, and reduce the country’s ability to project power both regionally and globally.

The escalation will also target Iran’s conventional forces, missile production sites, and supportive networks that extend across the Middle East. By striking these critical areas, Israel aims to compromise Iran’s capacity for sustained military operations and limit its strategic influence in the region.

Zamir emphasized that the campaign is fluid and maintains a significant element of unpredictability from the perspective of Iran. He indicated that Israel is prepared to adjust its operations dynamically, ensuring continued pressure on the Iranian regime while maintaining a strategic advantage.

This latest development marks a significant intensification of hostilities between the two nations, signaling a period of heightened military activity with potentially far-reaching consequences for regional stability.See_More…
