While Ghana still bleeds from alleged financial crisis and economic deprivation caused by Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta, its immediate past finance minister, Ken Ofori has told his country to go to hell as he relishes his secret new property acquired in New York, SecretsReporters has found out.
The sprawling property located at 35 Alexander Dr, Washingtonville, NY 10992 is a three bedroom with two bathrooms and a living area of 2,426. The house built in 2000 was first occupied by Daniel Badea and his spouse before two owners subsequently bought it and now snatched away by Ken Ofori-Atta.
The mansion
Located in the Orange county of Washingtonville, the house is currently valued at $528,000 but purchased on 23rd of March 2024 while he was still a minister, details he kept secret from the little West Africa country. He has paid $14,090 as tax bill since acquiring the house.
The house bought under the name of Kenneth Ofori also has a lady as an occupant. Investigation by SecretsReporters reveals that the lady who was born in December 1983 was once married but we cannot independently confirm if she is divorced before agreeing to joint ownership of the house with the embattled minister. She had earlier bought the house on in December 29th 2023 for the sum of $480,000 before Ken Ofori-Atta came onboard as owner in 2024 through a deed with both of them as grantees and her as grantor.
While serving as finance minister, he was accused of awarding government contracts to his company, Data Bank, which contravenes procurement process in Ghana. The office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) also investigated him for various acts of corruption and invited him for clarification but never showed up and fled the country to the United States, where he was arrested and detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for months, released and was judicially granted US permanent residency by Judge David Gardey.
The former African minister has been charged to court by the OSP alongside seven others on 78 count charges of corruption, using public office to enrich himself and oppress citizens. He has also been declared wanted.
