Former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo has warned US President Donald Trump against any military action in Nigeria.
The warning follows reports that Washington may act over alleged persecution of Christians.
Strong words from an ex-warlord
In a viral Facebook video, the ex-leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force vowed American troops would meet fierce resistance.
He said Nigeria would become “the graveyard” of Trump and any invading US forces. “Let Trump come with his America, they will all die,” Asari declared passionately.
“This lunatic wants to annex Canada, wants Iceland, wants to kill the president of Venezuela and the Supreme Leader of Iran. America is a sick country that elects madmen as leaders.”
The former warlord accused the US of hypocrisy over human rights and moral issues.
“He can’t see the genocide in Congo, Gaza, or Sudan, but he’s talking about genocide against Christians in Nigeria,” he said.
Asari, who describes himself as a Muslim raised among non-Muslims, dismissed claims that the killings are solely religious.
He insisted both Muslims and Christians suffer in the ongoing violence.
He warned that, unlike those who only talk, he and his allies are ready to act if Nigeria’s sovereignty is threatened.
