Even if 1 million lawyers defended Nnamdi Kanu, nothing would have changed – Kanu’s lawyer

Aloy Ejimakor, legal consultant to leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has said that the Kanu legal outcome would not have changed even if one million lawyers appeared in court for the IPOB leader.

He made the statement during an interview on Channels Television, where he discussed the long legal journey involving Kanu.

Why Ejimakor Believes Outcome Was Unavoidable

Ejimakor said the Nnamdi Kanu legal outcome remained the same because Kanu later chose to direct his own defence.

He noted that Kanu believed that allowing his legal adviser to lead the case would not change the Nnamdi Kanu legal outcome in the courtroom.

When asked whether he was suggesting that justice was not followed, Ejimakor firmly rejected the idea.

He stressed that he was not saying the judge influenced the Nnamdi Kanu legal outcome, but he believed the environment around the case made the direction clear to many observers.

Historical Cases Cited by Ejimakor

Ejimakor said some legal cases across history seemed influenced by forces outside the courtroom, similar to the Nnamdi Kanu legal outcome.

He compared the situation to the biblical trial of Jesus Christ, where the decision about His fate appeared fixed before judgment.

He also mentioned Nelson Mandela’s conviction during apartheid despite limited direct evidence.

Ejimakor added that the conviction of Chief Obafemi Awolowo in the 1960s showed how political pressure sometimes shaped trials.

Ejimakor Clarifies His Position

Ejimakor stressed that he was not accusing the judge of bias in the Nnamdi Kanu legal outcome.

He said he only felt that the general atmosphere around the case suggested a direction that seemed “palpable” before the final judgment.

According to him, many people believed the Nnamdi Kanu legal outcome was shaped by wider political factors rather than courtroom arguments alone.
