‎The Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s determination to intensify military operations aimed at decisively ending insurgency in the North-East.

‎Abubakar gave the assurance on Saturday during the Combined West African Social Activity (WASA) 2025, co-hosted by Headquarters Theatre Command Operation HADIN KAI and Headquarters 7 Division at the 212 Parade Ground, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.

‎He described WASA as a long-standing tradition of the Nigerian Army that promotes unity, preserves military values, and marks the end of annual activities.

‎“The event offers us the opportunity to reflect on our operational engagements over the past year,” the Theatre Commander said.

‎He noted that remarkable progress had been recorded in restoring peace and stability in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states, attributing the gains to the dedication and sacrifice of troops.

‎“The relative peace we celebrate today is a direct result of the commitment, resilience, and sacrifice of our gallant troops,” Abubakar stated.

‎He added that the operations were guided by the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff.

‎The Theatre Commander commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, and the Service Chiefs for their strategic leadership and improved welfare for personnel.

‎“We are grateful for the improved logistics, operational support, and welfare packages provided to our troops,” he said.

‎Abubakar assured that Operation HADIN KAI would intensify efforts to eliminate remaining terrorist elements in the region.

‎In his remarks, Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijjani, praised the military for its sustained security operations.

‎“The people of Borno State will continue to support Operation HADIN KAI in achieving lasting peace,” he said.

‎The governor also sympathised with families of fallen soldiers and prayed for the quick recovery of wounded personnel.

‎Earlier, the General Officer Commanding 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 OPHK, Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, thanked the state government and security agencies for their cooperation.

‎The colourful event featured cultural displays, tug-of-war between the Army and Police, award presentations, and other social activities.
