By Chimezie Godfrey

The Electoral Hub has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the people of Anambra State for the peaceful and transparent conduct of the November 8, 2025 governorship election.

In a post-election statement signed by its Director, Princess Hamman-Obels, the organisation described the exercise as an improvement over previous elections, citing adherence to timelines, improved logistics, and prompt uploading of results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV).

“The Electoral Hub monitored all phases of the process under its electoral accountability framework and observed notable progress in transparency, inclusivity, and professionalism,” the statement said.

It particularly lauded the effective deployment of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) technology, which ensured the integrity of voter accreditation and enhanced confidence in the results.

INEC’s collation process, led by Prof. Edogah Omoregie, SAN, was also commended for efficiency and transparency. Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) was declared winner with 422,664 votes, defeating Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the APC who polled 99,445 votes.

The organisation, however, identified concerns including vote trading, uneven campaign opportunities due to the ₦50 million billboard permit fee imposed by the Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ANSAA), and low voter turnout of about 21.4 percent.

It also condemned the killing of a councillor in Orumba South during voting and called for stronger electoral security measures.

While urging continued civic vigilance, The Electoral Hub reaffirmed its commitment to promoting electoral knowledge, inclusion, and accountability.
