Two communities in Ekiti State have urged Governor Biodun Oyebanji to fulfil development promises made to them, stressing the importance of the projects to cultural preservation and economic growth.
In Ise Ekiti, Ise/Orun Local Government Area, residents renewed calls for the construction of a world-class Olowe Museum in honour of the late renowned sculptor, Olowe of Ise, whose works are housed in museums across Europe and the United States. In a letter signed by its National Secretary, Patrick Abayomi, the Ten O’s Club of Ise Ekiti reminded the governor of his pledge, noting that the project would boost tourism, historical education, and revenue generation for the community.
Meanwhile, in Ijesa Isu, Ikole Local Government Area, the Regent, Princess Omobolaji Adeniyi, appealed to the state government to expedite the rehabilitation of the Iluomoba–Ijesa Isu–Ikole Road. She stressed that the agrarian community relies heavily on the road for transporting farm produce and ensuring smooth access to neighbouring towns.
Governor Oyebanji had in 2023 announced plans to establish the Olowe Museum in collaboration with stakeholders. He has also repeatedly restated his administration’s commitment to road development, citing completed projects such as the Ekiti Ring Road, Isinbode–Ara–Ikole Road, and over 132 kilometres of rural access routes under the World Bank-supported Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project.
