EFCC nabs top Energy commission boss over ₦500bn fraud

Operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested Mustapha Abdullahi, the Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, for allegedly laundering about ₦500 billion.

Reports say he was arrested in Abuja on Wednesday and is now being held by the commission for questioning.

A source within the EFCC disclosed that the case involves large sums of money suspected of being managed in violation of financial laws. The source added that the amount under investigation is about ₦500 billion.

The anti-corruption agency has not released an official statement confirming the arrest.
