The Gombe Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Gombe Geographical Information System (GOGIS) have entered into a renewed collaboration aimed at tackling the menace of land fraud in Gombe State.

The Gombe Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Gombe Geographical Information System (GOGIS) have entered into a renewed collaboration aimed at tackling the menace of land fraud in Gombe State.
The new synergy was formalised on Friday, October 10, 2025, during a sensitisation lecture organised by the EFCC at the GOGIS headquarters in Gombe.
In his address, the Acting Zonal Director of the EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC (ACE I) Austine S. Adache, said the initiative aligns with the directive of the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, that the Commission should prioritise its preventive mandate.
“It is cheaper to prevent than to prosecute. We are here to strengthen the existing synergy and sensitise your staff on land scam,” Adache stated.
He noted that investigations by the Commission have revealed that land scam remains the most prevalent form of fraud in the state.
“Because you are one of our critical stakeholders, we consider it necessary to deepen collaboration with you. We also urge you to continue sharing intelligence with us,” he added.
Delivering a lecture titled “Land Fraud Experience in Gombe State: The Prevention Strategy”, Superintendent of the EFCC, SE Samuel Ajayi, outlined the various processes, patterns, and preventive strategies relevant to curbing land-related fraud in the state.
In his remarks, the Director General of GOGIS, Dr. Kabiru Hassan, commended the EFCC for the sensitisation effort, describing the renewed partnership as timely and strategic in addressing fraudulent land dealings.
“This alliance will go a long way in curbing land scam in Gombe State,” Hassan affirmed.
