Ebonyi State Government has waded into the lingering land dispute between Ndiakparata-Ndubia and Nduezeoke-Ndiechi Communities in Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State.
The State Commissioner for Border-Peace & Conflict Resolution, Professor Paul Awo Nwobasi made this known while presenting a peace agreement papers to leaders and youths from the two parties shortly after reading State Government resolution on the matter during a peace meeting held at Old Government House, Abakaliki recently.
According to Professor Nwobasi, the State Government, through the Ministry of Border-Peace & Conflict Resolution, waded into the land dispute shortly after receiving series of reports on the crisis between Ndiakparata-Ndubia and Nduezeoke-Ndiechi communities in Izzi LGA for restoration of lasting peace in both communities.
He, however, disclosed that the two parties had agreed that the Ministry of Border-Peace & Conflict Resolution & the Office of Surveyor General of Ebonyi State should propose a date and come for demarcation on the disputed land.
Speaking shortly after signing the peace agreement papers, one representative from each of the two parties, who spoke including, Eze John Nwenyi from Ndiakparata-Ndubia and his counterpart from Nduezeoke-Ndiechi Communities in Izzi LGA, Eze Jonas Nwoba, eulogized Governor Francis Nwifuru for his timely response and intervention through the Ministry of Border-Peace and Conflict Resolution and promised to abide by the peace agreement.
To this end, the two communities have agreed to stop all forms of hostilities and cooperate with the Ministry in the demarcation of the boundaries on the disputed land.
