Driver Remanded For Allegedly Stealing Employers’ 3 ‘Korope’ Buses

The Nigerian Police at the Lion Building Division of Lagos State Command, have arrested a commercial bus driver, Oluwasina Ajishowo, aka Adex, 45, and dragged him before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing the three mini buses popularly called Korope entrusted in his care by his two employers, Joy Enokhiimion and Wasiu Abalaga to  work on hire purchase and pay back as agreed before the buses would become his own.

Police alleged that the complainants allegedly entrusted the buses in the care of defendant to be paying N30,000 monthly but the defendant allegedly sold two of the buses belonging to Abalaga for N500,000 each and allegedly claimed he gave the third bus with registration number, EKY 620 YG, belonging to the female complainant, to his friend now on the run to work and bring daily deliver to  him, but that the driver allegedly absconded with the bus.

Following the development, the complainants reported the matter to the Divisional Police Officer of Lion Building Division, CSP Jinadu Mustapha, who swiftly directed his crack team to fish out the fleeing driver and the the police team tracked him to Ogun State where he was arrested.

After investigation by Nnamdi Natuja and his team, the defendant was charged before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court at Tinubu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos Island on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.

Police Prosecuting Counsel, Reuben Solomon informed the court in the charge marked P/53/2025 that the defendant committed the offence in December 2024 at 19, Alabi Owoseni Street, Iyana Oworo, Lagos.

Solomon told the Court that the defendant betrayed the trust reposed in him by the complainants by selling the three mini buses entrusted in his care for hire purchase transactions and fled before he was tracked and arrested in Ogun, his home State.

He said the offences, the defendant committed were punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however pleaded not guilty to the charges and Magistrate, N.A Oseni granted him N200,000 bail with two surties in like sum.

Oseni adjourned the case till 31 October, 2025 for mention and ordered that the defendant be detained at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility till he perfected the bail conditions.
