In a dramatic church service that has since gone viral on social media, a pastor reportedly instructed his congregation to physically break down the fence surrounding the church as a symbolic act of tearing down every “wall of Jericho” in their lives.
The exercise was described as a gesture to help members remove spiritual barriers and open themselves to blessings, both personal and communal.
Congregation takes part in symbolic act
During the service, the pastor encouraged members to take part actively, saying the act of demolishing the fence would represent overcoming obstacles and breaking free from anything that may be blocking their spiritual growth.
Many churchgoers participated enthusiastically, swinging hammers and physically dismantling sections of the fence under the pastor’s direction.
The act, however, sparked mixed reactions online. Some praised the pastor’s creativity and symbolic approach to faith, while others criticised the move as unusual or potentially dangerous.
Several social media users also suggested the pastor was finding a cheap way to repair or replace the church fence.
Social media reactions
The pastor reportedly explained that the fence represented spiritual walls, and that breaking it down would symbolise letting go of fear, doubt, and limitations.
@Philose commented: “He wanted to change the fence.”
@Mozemhe asked: “Are you really sure that’s what he meant?”
@ox_scientist wrote: “People are so retarded, it’s impressive.”
@lovaniceth questioned: “Are they angry at Ebo Noah?”
@Don_Machiti joked: “Pastor no wan hire laborers. Na free labor be this.”
