Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has advised the newly to-be-crowned Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Ladoja, to ensure that his traditional rulership remains separate from politics.
He emphasized that the role of a monarch demands humility, patience, and tolerance.
Congratulations and Guidance for the New Monarch
Obasanjo conveyed the advice in a congratulatory message released through his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, and made available to newsmen on Wednesday.
The former president highlighted that traditional leadership requires divine wisdom and guidance from a wide range of advisors.
“I take this opportunity to congratulate you, Ade a pe lori, bata a pe lese. It is an exalted and responsible position to be traditional ruler of all Ibadan people. It requires humility, patience, divine wisdom, tolerance and advice from wide and varied quarters to succeed. Traditional rulership does not compete or conflict with political rulership. I wish you all the best and the grace, guide and direction of Almighty God,” Obasanjo stated.
