The National Publicity Secretary of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Ladipo Johnson, has weighed in on ongoing discussions about potential leadership within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following recent political developments.
Johnson made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television while reacting to questions surrounding the reported defection of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and the possible choice of a presidential flag bearer within the party. The conversation also referenced the performances of other major candidates in the last general election, including Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar.
He noted that no single candidate can secure electoral victory without broader political support, stressing that coalition-building remains central to success in Nigeria’s political system. His comments come amid ongoing alignments and strategic discussions among opposition figures ahead of future elections.
According to him, “Well, I have told you the underlying foundational thoughts that we have. If you tell me to start going into… Can he win it alone? Did Obi win it alone? Or did Waziri Adamawa win it alone? Of course, they didn’t. But if you tell me to start going into the experience of the individuals, I will sit down and tell you why I think Kwankwaso is more experienced than everybody else. I’ve done that many times before and this is not the time to start doing that.”
