Details of How Senator Ifeanyi Ubah Passed Away in London After Surgery

Senator Ifeanyi Ubah (APC/Anambra South), a prominent businessman and politician, has died in London, United Kingdom. The lawmaker’s death was confirmed on Saturday morning by a senior official of the APC in Anambra State, who requested anonymity. According to the official, Ubah collapsed on Friday and went into a coma before passing away the following morning.

A close family source revealed that Ubah died in a UK hospital where he had gone for a tummy-tuck operation. The businessman turned politician was first elected as a senator in 2019 on the Young Progressives Party (YPP) platform and was re-elected in 2023. Earlier this year, he switched to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and announced his intention to run for the Anambra State governorship election next year.

In September 2022, Ubah survived an assassination attempt in Enugwu-Ukwu community, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State. Gunmen targeted his convoy, resulting in the deaths of five people, including aides and security personnel. Ubah escaped unharmed in his bulletproof vehicle.

Ubah’s recent defection to the APC was marked by significant contributions to the party. His campaign council reportedly donated N71 million to bolster the APC’s presence and strength in Anambra State. This tragic news comes just days after the passing of Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, at the age of 82.

The sudden death of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has sent shockwaves through the political and business communities in Nigeria, leaving a significant void in Anambra State’s political landscape.
