Dr Daniel Olukoya, General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, has shared a personal experience to illustrate the spiritual power of words and voices, warning believers to be careful about negative declarations that can affect destiny.
Speaking during a recent sermon streamed on YouTube, Olukoya stressed that words carry spiritual weight and can influence the direction of a person’s life. According to him, believers must learn how to silence negative voices and declarations through the Word of God.
Recounting the experience, the cleric said a group of white missionaries once visited Nigeria, and one of them was about 51 years old. During a light conversation with Nigerian ministers, Olukoya said he jokingly asked the missionary a personal question.
“There was a time some white missionaries came to Nigeria and one of them was about 51 years old. So we were with Nigerian ministers and someone was trying to crack jokes with him,” he said.
Olukoya explained that he asked the missionary whether he was married, to which the man replied that he was not yet married. The response prompted another question that immediately changed the atmosphere.
“I said, ‘At 51 you’re not married? Will you ever marry?’” Olukoya recounted.
According to him, the missionary’s reaction was immediate and serious. The man’s expression changed suddenly as he responded firmly.
“All of a sudden the face of the missionary changed. He said, ‘Brother, I bind those words. I will marry,’” Olukoya said, noting that the missionary understood the spiritual implications of negative statements.
Using the story as an example, the preacher explained that many people underestimate the power of spoken words and the influence of voices around them.
Olukoya said believers must intentionally silence harmful voices through spiritual discipline, particularly by relying on Scripture. “You silence wrong voices with the Word of God,” he stated.
He added that this is why practices such as Bible memorization and meditation are strongly encouraged among Christians.
According to Olukoya, when believers consistently fill their minds with God’s Word, they become better equipped to resist negative voices and declarations that could hinder their progress or destiny.See_More…
