Naijaonpoint Nigeria reports that Dangote Group has pledged comprehensive medical care and compensation for Ruth Otabor, younger sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Josephina Otabor, better known as Phyna, after a road accident in Auchi, Edo State involving one of its trucks.
The company confirmed in a statement on X on Thursday that senior officials from Dangote Cement Plc, alongside its insurance team, visited the scene, engaged with law enforcement and met the victim and her family at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Edo State.
“This action reflects our unwavering commitment to the well-being of those affected,” the statement read.
“We are ensuring full support for Ms Otabor, including comprehensive medical care and appropriate compensation, in line with Dangote Group’s welfare policy. Our thoughts remain with Ms Ruth Otabor and her loved ones, and we wish her a full and speedy recovery.”
Phyna had earlier accused the company of trying to shield the driver involved, alleging that the police removed the truck’s number plate.
She posted on Instagram, “Na money you get, you no be God. But my God is bigger. Enough is enough.”
Actress Kate Henshaw also shared a video of the truck in police custody, claiming that the driver failed to stop after hitting the victim.
Social media activist VeryDarkMan said Ruth had recently graduated from Auchi Polytechnic and was hit while leaving the campus.
He said she lost one leg and suffered severe internal injuries and is currently being treated in Jattu.
The Edo State Police Command has not yet issued an official statement on the case.
