Dangote Cement Plc has officially confirmed the appointment of Mr. Edward Imoedemhe as the substantive Company Secretary, effective July 1, 2025, according to a corporate disclosure issued to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX).
The confirmation follows nearly three years of service in an acting capacity, marking a formal transition that reinforces continuity and governance stability within Africa’s largest cement producer.
Experienced Legal Professional with Multi-Sector Expertise
Mr. Imoedemhe brings over 27 years of professional experience across the manufacturing, telecommunications, oil & gas, and maritime sectors, where he has built a reputation for legal precision and strategic governance advisory.
Before his confirmation, he served as Acting Company Secretary and General Counsel of Dangote Cement Plc since November 21, 2022, after previously holding the role of Deputy Company Secretary and Legal Adviser from June 29, 2018.
His elevation reflects the Board’s confidence in his deep institutional knowledge and commitment to corporate excellence.
A legal practitioner with a robust academic and professional background, Mr. Imoedemhe obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from the University of Benin, where he received an excellence award from the alumni association. He also holds a Master’s degree in Maritime and Commercial Law from Lagos State University.
He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators, the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), and the Society for Corporate Governance Nigeria.
His outstanding contributions to corporate legal practice have earned him a place on the Legal 500 GC Powerlist in both 2024 and 2025, highlighting his recognition among leading in-house counsels in Africa.
