Nigerian celebrity barman, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has stirred social media after announcing plans to pay school fees for 50 students from every department at Clifford University.
The nightlife entrepreneur made the declaration in a viral post that quickly attracted nationwide attention, with students and fans flooding the internet with mixed reactions.
While many hailed the gesture as a sign of compassion during tough economic times, others doubted its feasibility, describing it as another “audio promise”.
Students react with excitement and sarcasm
Shortly after the announcement, Clifford University students flooded the comments section with prayers, laughter, and playful banter.
“Fifty students from every department? Bro about to trend harder than the VC,” one user joked.
Another quipped, “Clifford students about to start praying for ‘Chief Priest 101’ as a new course.”
Still, others expressed cautious optimism, with one user commenting, “Hope nor be audio ooo,” reflecting doubts over whether the pledge will actually happen.
Nigerians divided over motive
Across X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, Nigerians remained split. While supporters praised Cubana Chief Priest’s consistent record of philanthropy, critics claimed the move was a publicity stunt.
“Eye service too much, e no see the school since,” one user wrote, questioning his sudden interest in the institution.
Others argued that funding 50 students per department could cost millions of naira, raising concerns about how he intends to sustain the project.
As of now, Clifford University has not released an official statement or confirmed any partnership regarding the gesture.
Still, the post has once again cemented Cubana Chief Priest’s influence on social media, sparking conversations not about nightlife this time, but about education, generosity, and credibility.
