A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dickson Iroegbu, has reacted to the recent ruling of the Court of Appeal of Nigeria on the lingering leadership dispute within the opposition party, stating that although the decision was not in their favor, it did not validate the claims of the opposing group.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Iroegbu addressed the implications of the judgment and the ongoing internal crisis that has generated debate within the party. According to him, the ruling should not be interpreted as a complete victory for any faction within the PDP.
“The court of appeal judgment today didn’t go in our favor, but it also didn’t affirm their claims,” Iroegbu said while responding to questions about the outcome of the case.
He maintained that the issues surrounding the dispute are still far from settled and suggested that the legal battle may continue in order to clarify certain aspects of the ruling. Iroegbu stressed that members of the party who are dissatisfied with the judgment still have the option of approaching the Supreme Court for further interpretation.
The PDP chieftain also emphasized that the crisis within the party goes beyond internal disagreements and touches on broader concerns about the direction of the opposition in Nigeria’s political landscape.
Despite the setback, Iroegbu expressed confidence that the party would eventually overcome its internal challenges and remain a strong political platform ahead of future elections.See_More…
