The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says a Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed March 23, 2026, for judgment in the alleged N320 million fraud case involving lawmaker Nicholas Mutu.
EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
He said Justice F. Giwa Ogunbanjo adjourned the matter after parties adopted their final written addresses.
Mutu is standing trial alongside Airworld Technologies Ltd and Oyien Homes on 13 counts bordering on money laundering and gratification.
Defence counsel E. I. Ekweto, SAN, had urged the court to strike out the charge and acquit the defendants.
However, prosecution counsel Ekele Iheanacho, SAN, argued that testimonies of four witnesses and documentary evidence proved the funds were proceeds of unlawful activities.
“The testimonies of the witnesses pointed to the fact that these monies were paid as gratifications,” he said.
The judge subsequently adjourned the case till March 23, 2026, for judgment.
