Conceivable Efforts’re Being Made To Ensure PDP Is On The Ballot In All The Elections In 2027–Turaki

According to a report by The Cable on Friday, March 27, 2026, the factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kabiru Turaki, has affirmed that the party intends to field candidates for all elective positions in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Friday in Abuja during the national executive committee (NEC) meeting, Turaki conveyed confidence in the party’s ability to remain competitive despite ongoing internal disagreements.

He emphasized that the PDP is taking deliberate steps to reconcile its internal factions and present a united front ahead of the next election cycle.

Turaki explained that the NEC meeting had been postponed by a few weeks to allow sufficient time for reconciliation between the party’s main leadership and the faction aligned with Nyesom Wike.

This decision, he said, was part of a broader strategy to strengthen the PDP and ensure that it remains a viable alternative within Nigeria’s multi-party democratic system.

According to Turaki, reconciling differing views within the party is essential to restoring cohesion and positioning the PDP effectively for the challenges of the 2027 elections.

The PDP’s board of trustees (BoT), under the leadership of Adolphus Wabara, has reportedly taken proactive steps to engage both factions.

Turaki stated that meetings have been convened to bring the opposing sides together and facilitate constructive dialogue.

These efforts are aimed at preventing internal disputes from undermining the party’s performance and credibility.

He stressed that maintaining unity within the PDP is critical to ensuring the party remains competitive in every state and constituency across Nigeria.

In his remarks, Turaki assured party members that the leadership is committed to implementing all necessary measures to keep the PDP active and prepared for the upcoming elections.

He highlighted the importance of strategic planning and organization, noting that the party must demonstrate its relevance by presenting credible candidates for all positions.

By emphasizing preparedness and unity, Turaki sought to reassure members and supporters that the PDP is fully capable of contesting the 2027 elections effectively.

He said, “For us in PDP, all hope is not lost. Conceivable efforts are being made to ensure that PDP is on the ballot in all the elections in 2027.”
