By Joy Mbachi
Enugwu-Agidi community in Njikoka Local Government  of  Anambra has called on the state Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo to stop its suspended President-General (PG), Mr  Chukwuebuka Onuorah, from parading as the leader of the community.

The appeal was contained in a communiqué signed by the Interim PG,Chief Kenechukwu Okoye and Assistant Secretary, Mr Echezona Egbeonu made available to journalists on Sunday in Awka.

According to the communique, Onuorah was suspended for allegedly embezzling more than N30 million and his engagement in alleged land grabbing activities within the community.

Besides, it said that Onuorah had overstayed his tenure and molest anyone who dear challenged him.

The community urged the state government through the Ministry of Local Government, Town Union and Chieftaincy Matters, to call Onuorah to order.

The communique said that efforts by the community to get Onuorah to account for over N30 million during his period in office had failed.

It said that instead Onuorah still parade himself as the  president-general of the community union even when he had been suspended.

“Besides unlawful collection of levies and disruption of burial rites in the community , he (allegedly) uses thugs to disrupt meetings, including the village women meeting, at will.

“Residents in Enugu-Agidi, a once peaceful town, now live in fear because Onuorah ( allegedly) had no respect for the community traditional ruler, HRM,Igwe Michael Okekeuche.

” This action of his needs to be urgently checked to prevent breakdown of law and order in the community,” it said.

When contacted, Onuorah said that at no time was he suspended by the community union.

Onuorah described the purported suspension letter handed him by the Central Executive Committee members  of the Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union Nigeria as a mere “cyber cafe write up.” (NAN)
