A traditional ruler, Chief Sunday Ayodele Ogunsami, the Baale of Imowo-Nla, Ikorodu, Lagos State, and three other principal members of the Ifegbuwa Chieftaincy Family have approached an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court seeking protection against alleged threats, harassment and violent activities by five defendants.
Other applicants in the suit marked MKD/1269/CIV/2026, is brought by Chief Ogunsami, alongside are: Chief Musibau Olamilekan Oladipupo (Odufala Branch), Mr Idowu Adeniran Odufeso (Odufeso Branch), Mr. Isiaka Ogunwomoju (Shofiran Branch), all representing the Head and Principal Members of Ifegbuwa Chieftaincy Family of Imowo Nla, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
While Chief Musibau Olamilekan Oladipupo, Mr Idowu Adeniran Odufeso and Mr Isiaka Ogunwomouju against Korede Olatunji Ogunsami, Bunmi Olatunji, Lawal Mudashiru, Bisoye Jimoh Jubry and Jamiu Awotunde Agboke listed as first to fifth defendants/respondents.
Chief Sunday and other applicants in their motion on notice filed through the lawyer, Chief A. G. Giwa-Amu, are asking the court to compel the defendants/respondents to enter into a recognizance, with or without sureties, to keep the peace for 12 months.
They also seek orders restraining the defendants, their agents, servants or associates from allegedly threatening, assaulting, harassing, molesting or victimising them.
In an affidavit sworn to by Chief Sunday, the Baale alleged that the defendants had hired and stationed “thugs, hoodlums and dare-devil miscreants” in Imowo-Nla, allegedly creating fear and threatening the peace of the community.
The first applicant stated that he was selected as Baale Designate by the Ifegbuwa Chieftaincy Family in 2021, adding that the selection was communicated to relevant traditional and government authorities.
He stated that he was subsequently crowned and installed by the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, and the Ayangbure-in-Council.
Chief Sunday however alleged that tensions escalated in May 2026 when the defendants/respondents allegedly stormed properties in the community and used force to dispossess occupants.
He further alleged that the defendants/respondents have been involved in threats and violent land-related activities, including an alleged attack on an Assistant Director in the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, Mr Giwa Shakiru, and his family.
The applicants states that complaints had been made to the police and other authorities, including the Lagos State Task Force on Land Grabbers, but alleged that the situation persisted.
They urged the court to bind the defendants over to keep the peace, arguing that such an order was necessary to protect the applicants and restore tranquillity in Imowo-Nla.

One of the defendants/respondents, Chief Musibau Oladipupo, a resident of at 64, Sokunbi Compound Onwu Road, Ikorodu in his affidavit made the following averments: “that MR Akorede Olatunji Ogunsami and Mr Oluwabunmi Adekoya Olatunji Ogunsami are my Brothers.
“That thereby undertake that Mr Akorede Olatunji Ogunsami and Mr Oluwabunmi Adekoya Olatunji Ogunsami will not enter Chief KAMORUDEEN LAMINA (A.K.A Sir k Oluwo) at Ifegbuwa Family Land at Mowo-Nla, Ikorodu, Lagos State,
“That Mr Akorede Olatunji Ogunsami and MR OLUWABUNMI ADEKOYA OLATUNJI OGUNSAMI will also never enter any Land Belonging to the Family of ifegbuwa, except the family member give any prior authority to do so.
“That Mr Akorede Olatunji Ogunsami and Mr Oluwabunmi Adekoya Olatunji Ogunsami will never interfere in anything belonging to the family of ifegbuwa in Mowo-Nia, Ikorodu, Lagos.
“That Mr Akorede Olatunji Ogunsami and Mr Oluwabunmi Adekoya Olatunji Ogunsami will not also cause anything or be involved in any kind of violent activity in any Land belonging to the Ifegbuwa Family.
“That Mr Akorede Olatunji Ogunsami and Mr Oluwabunmi Adekoya Olatunji Ogunsami will not invite any secret cult member into any Land belonging to the Ifegbuwa Family. And that this affidavit is now necessary and required for record and official purposes.”
