‎The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has tasked 3,391 newly inducted soldiers to uphold the highest standards of discipline, professionalism and patriotism as they commence service in the Nigerian Army.

‎The charge was given on Saturday during the Passing Out Parade of the 89 Regular Recruits Intake at the Depot Nigerian Army, Osogbo.

‎In a statement by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Appolonia Anele, the Army Chief described the parade as historic, being the first since the establishment of the Osogbo depot.

‎“This ceremony is historic as the first Passing Out Parade of Depot Nigerian Army, Osogbo. You are the pioneer set and must conduct yourselves as worthy ambassadors of this institution,” Shaibu said.

‎He noted that the recruits were joining the Army at a critical period marked by complex security threats, urging them to remain resilient and confident.

‎According to him, the responsibility of safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity rests heavily on their shoulders, adding that the Army would continue to prioritise their welfare.

‎“Our soldiers remain the core and enduring strength of the Nigerian Army. You will be given all you require to succeed, but the nation will also demand much from you,” the COAS stated.

‎Shaibu praised the Commandant, officers and instructors of the Osogbo depot for producing disciplined and combat-ready soldiers.

‎He also announced that training would soon begin at the newly approved Depot Nigerian Army, Abakaliki, in line with presidential directives.

‎Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State commended the Army’s operations against banditry and kidnapping and urged the new soldiers to uphold loyalty and professionalism.
