The Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, has directed troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE to sustain their onslaught against criminal elements threatening peace in affected communities.
Shaibu gave the directive Tuesday while addressing personnel at the 401 Special Forces Brigade in Makurdi.
According to a statement signed by Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Appolonia Anele, the Army Chief praised the troops for degrading criminal networks and enabling displaced persons to gradually return to their homes.
He described the development as a clear testament to their resilience and operational effectiveness.
While commending their sacrifices, the COAS charged the troops to remain relentless and deal decisively with individuals or groups fomenting violence, irrespective of influence or affiliation.
Shaibu emphasised that recent gains must be consolidated through intelligence-led operations, enhanced synergy with other security agencies and sustained community engagement.
He further urged personnel to maintain professionalism and strict adherence to the Rules of Engagement, warning against partisanship in communal conflicts.
Reaffirming the Army’s allegiance to the President and the Constitution, he assured troops that their welfare would remain a top priority under his Soldier-First philosophy.
The visit was part of his operational assessment tour of critical theatres.
