COAS Assesses North-East Operations, Vows Army Will Defeat Terrorists

‎The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has reiterated the Nigerian Army’s resolve to overcome security threats across the country.

‎Shaibu stated this on Friday during a visit to Yobe State to assess ongoing military operations and boost troop morale.

‎He was received by Governor Mai Mala Buni at the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport in Damaturu.

‎The COAS acknowledged recent attacks on troops but said the Army remained committed to its mandate.

‎He noted that operational strategies were being reviewed to address emerging threats and consolidate gains in the fight against terrorism.

‎Despite the evolving security challenges, Shaibu said the Army would remain firm and continue to confront criminal elements decisively.

‎He also called on state governments to enhance support for troops in frontline operations.

‎The Army Chief commended the Yobe State Government and residents for their cooperation with security agencies.

‎At the Headquarters, Sector 2 Joint Task Force, Operation HADIN KAI, Damaturu, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, represented by his deputy, paid a condolence visit over soldiers killed in recent operations.

‎Zulum, who was accompanied by Senator Ali Ndume, pledged additional support for security agencies.

‎The COAS also addressed troops, urging them to remain resolute and honour fallen colleagues through dedication to duty.

‎In his remarks, the Deputy Governor commended the Army’s efforts in restoring peace and prayed for the repose of fallen soldiers.
