The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Imo chapter, on Wednesday, described Christmas as being a source of hope, and courage to all, in spite of challenges facing the nation.
The state’s acting Chairman of CAN, Rev. Uzoma Uzoeshi, said this in a Christmas message made available to newsmen in Owerri.
Uzoeshi who doubles as the President, Imo Baptist Conference, said that in spite of economic, security and other challenges confronting Nigeria, citizens could still look up to Jesus as only giver of hope.
He said that the year’s theme: “Jesus Christ: The Gift of Hope” is an indication that in spite of Nigeria’s challenges, Jesus os the gift of hope, which brings light in darkness, hope to areas plagued by insecurity, and offering peace.
“Jesus offers salvation and purpose and gives hope of eternal life, purpose to individuals amid challenges.
“He is the hope of peace, righteousness, glory, perfection and eternal life; His message unites diverse groups, promoting dialogue and peaceful co-existence.
“Jesus Christ, as the gift of hope, provides comfort in hardship; he offers hope to those struggling economically, socially, or due to conflict “, he said.
He added that Jesus inspires integrity in leadership, encouraging leaders to serve with integrity and to prioritise people’s welfare.
He urged Nigerians to imitate Jesus’ acts of kindness, charity, and support for the less privileged each day that they live, while imbibing integrity, justice and fairness in their dealings. (NAN)
