The Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI) has called on Nigerians to sustain unity, resilience and responsible citizenship as the country transits into the new year.
In a Christmas and New Year message to AANI members and Nigerians, the President of the Association, Ambassador Emmanuel Obi Okafor, mni, said the festive season provides an opportunity for national reflection and renewed commitment to peace, unity and service.
“As we observe the Yuletide season and prepare to enter a new year, this period invites reflection on our shared journey as a people and a renewed commitment to the values that sustain our nation—peace, unity, responsibility and service to the common good,” Okafor said.
He acknowledged the economic and security challenges confronting the nation, commending Nigerians for their resilience, patience and perseverance in the face of difficulties.
Despite prevailing pressures, the AANI President noted that Nigerians remain “industrious, hopeful and deeply committed to national progress,” describing these attributes as a solid foundation for the country’s future.
Okafor also paid tribute to members of the Armed Forces, security agencies and intelligence services for their sacrifices in safeguarding lives and property, noting that their professionalism deserves national appreciation.
He urged governments at all levels to leverage the intellectual and professional capital within AANI, describing the Association as a reservoir of national expertise.
Looking ahead to 2026, Okafor acknowledged the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in steering the nation through reforms, urging sustained focus on economic growth, security and citizens’ welfare.
“AANI stands ready to collaborate with government and stakeholders to advance good governance, peacebuilding and sustainable development,” he added.
