The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede, has assured Nigerians of the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, peace, and democratic institutions, despite prevailing security challenges.
In his Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 goodwill message, the CDS said the season offers an opportunity for national reflection, renewal, and recommitment to unity, peace, and collective responsibility.
“Christmas is a season that embodies love, sacrifice, hope and renewal. It offers us a solemn opportunity to reflect on our shared humanity and our unwavering commitment to peace, unity and national progress,” General Oluyede stated.
He expressed deep appreciation to Nigerians for their resilience and continued support for the Armed Forces, noting that public trust and cooperation remain critical to achieving sustainable peace and security nationwide.
“In spite of the multifaceted security challenges confronting our nation, your steadfast belief in the Nigerian project remains a vital source of strength and motivation to our troops,” he said.
The Defence Chief paid glowing tribute to frontline personnel deployed across various theatres of operation, describing their sacrifices as the finest tradition of military service.
“Our gallant troops remain vigilant, confronting diverse threats to our collective peace and security, even as others celebrate Christmas with their loved ones,” the CDS noted.
General Oluyede assured officers and men of the Armed Forces that their welfare remains a top priority under the current military leadership, anchored on enhanced jointness, sound administration, and improved welfare delivery.
“We are firmly committed to improving living and working conditions through better accommodation, healthcare, timely allowances, and sustained support for families of our fallen heroes,” he said.
He urged military personnel to uphold discipline, professionalism, loyalty to the Constitution, and the core values of honour and integrity during the festive season.
The CDS also called on Nigerians to promote peace, tolerance, and unity across ethnic and religious divides, stressing that diversity remains Nigeria’s strength.
General Oluyede thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for his unwavering support to the military and called for continued collaboration with sister security agencies.
