‎CDS to NIPSS: Armed Forces Ready for Stronger Policy, Research Partnership

‎The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede, has assured the Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Professor Ayo Omotayo, of improved collaboration between the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the country’s foremost policy institution.

‎General Oluyede gave the assurance on Thursday, when the Director-General paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

‎Speaking further, the CDS lauded the contributions of NIPSS to national development through the cultivation of strategic-level manpower and research into transformational policies for the nation.

‎He expressed satisfaction with the Institute’s focus on research and development, noting that such efforts are urgently needed at a critical time like now. He also expressed readiness to partner with NIPSS in developing practical solutions to Nigeria’s current challenges.

‎General Oluyede, who is an alumnus of the National Institute and a member of its Board of Governors, reiterated the unflinching support of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to the Institute in all spheres to enable it to effectively achieve its mandate.

‎Earlier in his remarks, the Director-General, Professor Omotayo, appreciated the CDS and the Armed Forces of Nigeria for their sacrifices in keeping Nigeria safe and united.

‎He informed the CDS of ongoing efforts to develop solutions in partnership with the Nigerian Army and urged for increased support from the Armed Forces to ensure the successful execution of the project.

‎The NIPSS Director-General also disclosed plans to reposition the Institute as an African think-tank centre for the incubation and development of transformational ideas, seeking the support of the AFN to fully realise the vision.

‎He further appealed for sustained support to make the teaching and learning environment at the Institute more conducive.
