The Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, on Wednesday undertook a strategic operational visit to Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, commissioning infrastructure projects and inaugurating the Nigerian Air Force Institute of Administrative Management (NAFIAM).
The visit forms part of his nationwide operational tour of Nigerian Air Force formations to assess readiness, enhance personnel welfare and consolidate strategic partnerships.
In a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Ehimen Ejodame, the CAS emphasised the strategic importance of Bayelsa State within Nigeria’s security and economic framework.
During a courtesy call on Governor Douye Diri, Aneke underscored the imperative of sustained civil-military cooperation to safeguard critical national assets and ensure lasting peace in the Niger Delta.
The Governor commended the NAF for its stabilising role and protection of oil and gas infrastructure, while expressing appreciation for the establishment of NAFIAM in Yenagoa.
At the Headquarters of Joint Task Force Operation DELTA SAFE, Rear Admiral OBF Oladipo acknowledged the decisive contributions of the NAF Air Component, particularly in intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and air mobility operations.
The CAS also commissioned the residence of the Air Officer Commanding Mobility Command and conducted a groundbreaking ceremony for additional infrastructure projects.
Addressing officers and personnel, Aneke described Mobility Command as the logistical engine of the Service, noting that its reach and sustainability underpin the Nigerian Air Force’s capacity to project effective airpower nationwide.
