Canada Invites Over 5,500 Applicants Under Express Entry for September

Canada has invited more than 5,500 applicants under its Express Entry system in September following two draws that demonstrate the government’s continued focus on category-based immigration and French-language proficiency.

On September 3, 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted draw #364 under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

A total of 1,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off score of 534.

On September 4, 2025, IRCC held draw #365 for the French-language proficiency category, inviting 4,500 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 446.

This marks the fifth French-focused draw of the year, with a cumulative 25,500 ITAs already issued under this stream in 2025.

An Invitation to Apply (ITA) is an official notification from IRCC to candidates in the Express Entry pool who meet or exceed the CRS cut-off score during a draw.

Candidates who receive an ITA are required to submit a complete permanent residence application within 60 days.

Policy Adjustments in 2025

IRCC has introduced significant changes to the Express Entry program this year:

  • Job Offer Points Removed: Since March 25, CRS points for LMIA-supported or LMIA-exempt job offers have been eliminated.

  • Category-Based Selection: Priority is now given to candidates in areas such as healthcare, skilled trades, and French-language proficiency. This reduces the weight previously placed on the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

Beginning in 2026, Canada will introduce a new Leadership and Innovation category to attract high-impact professionals, including senior managers, researchers, and distinguished experts. This initiative is expected to align with Canada’s long-term economic and technological priorities.

So far in 2025, IRCC has issued 56,069 ITAs, compared to 98,903 in 2024. Analysts indicate that candidates now require a CRS score above 520 to remain competitive, particularly in Canadian Experience Class draws.
