The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced plans to deploy an Artificial Intelligence (AI) system to address a backlog of approximately 7,000 company registration applications and improve service delivery.
Registrar-General Hussaini Magaji revealed the development during a stakeholders’ forum in Kano on Monday. In a statement shared via CAC’s official social media handles , Magaji described the AI implementation as a “complete overhaul” of the commission’s existing Company Registration Portal.
Launched in June, the upgraded system is designed to accelerate compliance, registry, and customer-service processes while enhancing accuracy. Magaji explained that the AI agent will handle tasks related to registration, compliance monitoring, and customer requests efficiently, significantly reducing delays.
The new portal also features instant name approvals and provides automatic alternative name suggestions if a preferred company name is unavailable. According to the Registrar, reserving a name under the AI-powered system is now as simple as setting up an email account, with real-time suggestions and approvals ensuring a seamless experience for applicants.
