By Law, I Am Qualified To Contest For Any Position, Including President Of The Country -Adikwuru

Hon. Dennis Adikwuru, Convener and National Secretary of the Igbo People’s Action Congress (IPAC) and former Secretary-General of the Igbo People’s Movement (IPM), has said that under the laws of Nigeria, he is fully qualified to contest for any political position, even the presidency.

Speaking in an interview with DAILY INDEPENDENT on Sunday, March 8, 2026, Adikwuru explained that his involvement in politics has been a long journey shaped by both his academic background in Political Science and his years of experience in the media. He said these two influences gave him the awareness to understand what is happening around him and the drive to seek positive change in society.

Adikwuru noted that he has contributed meaningfully to his environment and built goodwill that could support him if he ever decided to run for office. He stressed that the Constitution and electoral laws of Nigeria do not prevent him from contesting for any position, including the highest office in the land.

However, he pointed out that his study of Political Science has often made him choose to remain in the background, supporting the masses in electing leaders rather than putting himself forward. He described himself as someone who is often misunderstood because of his humble nature. According to him, many people take him for granted, but his firm principles sometimes put him at odds with friends who prefer compromise.

He said, “By the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and especially the electoral laws, I am qualified to contest for any position, including President of the country.”See_More…
