The Senate on Wednesday confirmed General Olufemi Oluyede as Nigeria’s new Chief of Defence Staff.
Oluyede, along with other recently appointed service chiefs, appeared before the Senate earlier in the day for screening at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.
The nominees arrived around 10 a.m., accompanied by several senior military officers.
Following a brief closed-door session held under tight security, Oluyede was cleared less than an hour after his arrival.
His confirmation marks a key step in President Bola Tinubu’s latest shake-up of the nation’s military leadership, aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s defence and security operations.
