PDP Board of Trustees member Chief Olabode George has alleged that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike was just a local government chairman when the founding fathers of the party were laying its foundations.
Speaking in an interview with Arise TV, he said, “Now, for a long couple of weeks, we’ve been waiting for the small group. Where were they in 1999? Wike was just a local government chairman when all these babas and all of us put everything we had into building the first political party in Nigeria. This party will not collapse,” he said.
George said the PDP’s leadership was open to dialogue but he made it clear that their faction would not be held hostage to personal political ambitions. He warned that no individual’s aspirations could be placed above the interests of Nigeria and cautioned those stirring tension against starting a fire they could not control.
He highlighted reconciliation talks are going on, and that the party’s elders were mature, committed, and decisive enough to listen but also firm enough to ensure the outcome served the party and the country, not any single individual.
