The Rivers State House of Assembly has approved the state’s 2026 Appropriation Bill, ending months of uncertainty surrounding the passage of the annual budget.

The approval clears the way for the Rivers State Government to proceed with the implementation of its 2026 fiscal plan after the budget process was delayed for several months.

Shortly after the Assembly’s approval, Governor Siminalayi Fubara signed the appropriation bill into law at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

The development is expected to provide the administration with the legal framework to implement its planned programmes, projects and policies for the 2026 fiscal year.

The passage and signing of the budget also mark a significant development in the state’s financial and administrative affairs, following the prolonged delay in completing the appropriation process.
