Comedian Seyi Law has praised President Bola Tinubu’s administration for taking bold economic steps when he assumed office.
In comments reported by CHANNELS TV on Saturday March 28, 2026, Seyi Law said the government moved quickly to tackle long-standing problems that he linked to corruption and economic distortion.
He highlighted two major actions taken at the start of the administration. First, the removal of the fuel subsidy, which had long been criticized for encouraging waste and corruption. Second, he said the decision to allow the naira to float more freely against foreign currencies, a move aimed at fixing distortions between the official exchange rate and the black market rate.
Seyi Law said these steps were part of a systematic approach to confronting corruption and economic imbalances, and he suggested that unifying the exchange rates has helped stabilize currency trading across official and parallel markets.
He said,
“On the first day of his inauguration, he struck corruption by stopping the fuel subsidy regime. He did not stop there.”
