A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dickson Iroegbu, has urged the leader of the factional group of the party supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) to move into the ruling party.
Naija News reports that Iroegbu made the remark while reacting to the outcome of the Appeal Court ruling on the PDP National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, last November.
The Appeal Court in Abuja had on Monday dismissed the appeal brought before it by the Taminu Turaki-led faction of the PDP.
The Court also upheld the judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which on October 31, 2025, restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising the outcome of the 2025 National Convention of the PDP.
Fielding questions in an interview on ARISE Television’s ‘Prime Time’ programme, Iroegbu maintained that the PDP cannot be an extension of the ruling APC.
He said, “PDP will not become an appendage of the APC. The leader of a group in the PDP has affirmed to be supporting the APC government. They should just go ahead and move into the APC.
“It’s not a problem if you want to support whoever you want to support, but you can’t be here and there.
“That’s what the issue is. We have a system that has allowed this kind of shenanigan to thrive within the political arena. It’s sad.
“But the judgment today, like I said, it didn’t go in our favour, yes, but it also didn’t affirm the illegality called ‘Caretaker Committee’ because you can’t place something on nothing.
“Today, the Appeal Court affirmed the suspension of the group that came up with the Caretaker Committee.
“It was while they were in that suspension that they set up what they called the Caretaker Committee.
“So having now received the affirmation that their suspension stands, how can anybody then, therefore, say that you are carrying on with your so called Caretaker Committee?” See_More…
