BREAKING: Dark Day For London: Mayor Khan Slams Antisemitic Attack On Jewish Charity

According to a report by Sky News on Monday, March 23, 2026, London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan has described Monday’s arson attack in Golders Green, which destroyed four ambulances operated by a Jewish charity, as a “dark day for London.”

Speaking to reporters, Khan said the attack targeted Jewish volunteers who provide vital services to the wider public. “Jewish Londoners who volunteer to provide a service for all Londoners have been attacked for no other reason than because they are Jewish,” he said. “This is an antisemitic hate crime and it’s really important for all of us to show allyship to the Jewish community.”

The Mayor confirmed he is in contact with Jewish community leaders and the Metropolitan Police to ensure those responsible face “the full force of the law.”

Highlighting the wider impact on the community, Khan acknowledged that many Jewish Londoners are now hesitant to openly display their faith. “Jewish Londoners are scared to show their Jewishness, and so more money is being invested in security, community groups, and schools,” he said.

He further emphasized the broader consequences of the attack, noting that fear is being felt beyond the Jewish community. “I know the ripples of fear are being felt all across London and all across our country. This wasn’t just an attack on Jewish Londoners—it was an attack on all of us,” Khan said.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident, with security measures being reviewed to protect vulnerable community groups and public services.
