Actress and filmmaker Bolaji Ogunmola has criticised an airline after she was stranded at the Ekiti State airport for more than 24 hours, a disruption she said forced her to miss the first day of her ₦20 million film production in Lagos.
In a video shared on Instagram, Ogunmola said repeated flight delays, cancellations and rescheduling left her unable to travel as planned, despite having cast and crew already on set.
According to her, she arrived at the airport on Wednesday for a scheduled flight to Lagos but was initially informed of a delay before the airline eventually cancelled the flight without providing a clear alternative.
“I waited for hours and later they told us they were no longer flying. I asked what the plan was because I needed to get to Lagos, but there was no solution,” she said.
She said she spent the night at a nearby motel and returned to the airport early Thursday, only to face further delays as the rescheduled flight times were repeatedly changed.
“They said 8am, then 9:30am, then 12pm, and later 5:30pm, while I was supposed to be on set for the first day of production,” Ogunmola said.
The filmmaker expressed frustration over what she described as poor communication from the airline, noting that the disruption affected not only her but also her cast and production crew.
“It’s not just my time. This is my livelihood and the livelihoods of people already on set. All I keep hearing is ‘sorry,’ with no real conversation or solution,” she said.
Ogunmola said she eventually decided to travel by road to Lagos to salvage the production, despite concerns about safety.
She added that her lawyers would take up the matter, explaining that the video was recorded to document her experience rather than to provoke public outrage.
“I’m not trying to cause drama. I just need evidence of what happened,” she said.
