Popular entrepreneur, BLord has sparked conversations after sharing how a teenage hacker once broke into one of his apps early in his career.
Speaking at SMFest Awka 2025, he explained that the boy was “a very small boy,” yet he still managed to hack the app with surprising ease.
Instead of reporting him, BLord said he hired the teenager immediately to help improve security across his platforms.
In his words, he said:
“I lost $1.2 million to hackers on one of my apps. I caught one of the hackers, and instead of handing him over to the police, I employed him to work for me.”
His story drew loud reactions from the audience. Many people said it was a smart business move, similar to how ethical hackers are hired in other parts of the world.
But not everyone believed the story.
Some people were doubtful, pointing to BLord’s past controversies including previous EFCC investigations and public accusations of crypto-related misconduct, which he has denied.
To these critics, the story sounded like a convenient way to rebuild his image, while others still praised it as a bold leadership decision.
Either way, the confession became one of the most talked-about moments of the event. One person commented:
“Hiring the hacker instead of arresting him? That’s genius.” Another said: “Hmm… with Blord’s history, I don’t know what to believe again.”
BLord’s claims have placed him back at the centre of public debate about cybersecurity and discovering young tech talent in Nigeria.
