Billionaire businessman Oskar Ibru passes away

Olorogun Oskar Ibru, billionaire industrialist and chairman of the Ibru Organisation, has reportedly passed away at the age of 67 following a brief illness.

The details surrounding his unexpected death have not been disclosed.

Legacy in Nigerian Business

Ibru was a prominent figure in Nigeria’s corporate world and one of the leading heirs of the Ibru dynasty.

He played a pivotal role in sustaining and expanding the conglomerate founded by his late father, Olorogun Michael Ibru.

The family empire spans shipping, oil and gas, real estate, and commerce, making the Ibrus one of Nigeria’s most influential business families.

His death comes less than a decade after the passing of his father, Michael Ibru, in 2016, whose legacy Oskar helped maintain and grow.

Tributes Pour In

Prominent figures in Nigeria have expressed their condolences.

Media entrepreneur and publisher Dele Momodu described Ibru as “an extremely friendly gentleman and a socialite per excellence.”

In a post on Instagram, Momodu wrote:

“News has just reached me in the skies that one of Nigeria’s most recognisable businessmen, OLORUNGUN OSKAR IBRU, has passed on… He was an extremely friendly gentleman, and a socialite per excellence, who was loved so passionately by families and friends… He was the son of the business Titan, OLOROGUN MICHAEL IBRU… Rest in peace, dear Brother.”

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days.
