TikTok has announced ‘Wasiu Ayinde’ by BhadBoi OML as Nigeria’s official Song of the Summer for 2025, celebrating the track’s dominance across feeds and its influence on viral trends throughout the season.
Toyin Mustapha, TikTok’s Head of Music Partnerships for the UK, Ireland, and Sub-Saharan Africa, said in a statement that the hit single—featured on BhadBoi OML’s album ‘Bhadboi’—captured audiences with its seamless fusion of contemporary pop and traditional Yoruba Fuji rhythms.
According to Mustapha, the song’s success reflects TikTok’s diverse and vibrant music culture, showcasing how Nigerian artists continue to push creative boundaries.
“While chart-toppers like Davido, Olamide, and Rybeena thrilled fans with high-energy anthems, the top ten also featured gospel-inspired hits and sounds from other African countries, including South Africa and Uganda, that deeply resonated with Nigerian audiences,” he said.
Describing TikTok as “a space where music truly comes to life,” Mustapha noted that the platform continues to serve as a launchpad for artists, fans, and creators to collectively shape culture in real time.
“The Songs of the Summer highlight the powerful connection between communities on TikTok and the global reach of Nigerian music,” he added.
He revealed that collaborations played a key role in this year’s chart success, with six joint tracks making it into the top ten. These included “99” by Olamide, Seyi Vibez, Asake, Young Jonn, and Daecolm; “With You” by Davido and Omah Lay; and “Gaddem” by Rybeena and Shoday.
The list also reflected Amapiano’s sustained influence, with tracks like “Ngishutheni” by Goon Flavour, Master KG, and Eemoh continuing to captivate listeners across Africa.
Mustapha further noted a rising appetite for emotionally driven songs, such as Chella’s “My Darling,” which went viral for its heartfelt lyrics and dance challenge appeal.
He added that beyond rankings, the 2025 Songs of the Summer list reaffirmed TikTok’s growing role as a cultural incubator—amplifying local talent, promoting authentic sounds, and connecting Nigerian music to global audiences.
